Our third day in Hokkaido took us to Otaru, a small coastal city.
They had a small German brewery with free tours so we went on the tour and then had their sausage plate afterward. We then followed the guide book to a street that was filled with stores for tourists.
tri-flavored soft serve and a really really cute cafe. unfortunately, we'd just had a snack and was on the way to lunch so we didn't actually spend very much time here.
Lunch! There were an abundance of sushi places here since Hokkaido is known for their sushi and Otaru is known within Hokkaido for having especially delicious sushi. It was very, very good, but I feel like there were many more, much shinier gems in the area.
There was a music box store. This guy is demonstrating one from... I don't remember the year, but from a long time ago. And look how big it is! Half the store was more of an exhibit than a store. It was very interesting for me, even though I'm not particularly into music boxes, but my travelling companion really likes them so this place was a little slice of heaven for her.
The picture on the left is of a tree that was in front of a glass store.

Around dusk, the sky started turning these marvelous shades of blue. I wanted to put some more photos in this post, but I'm dangerously low on space on my Picasa album.
We went back to Sapporo, where we went to a restaurant since we were a little hungry.
And these, ladies and gentlemen, were the best raw scallops I've EVER consumed in my entire life.
They were life changing.
Apparently there are a bunch of these around Sapporo. Luckily, I was able to take a picture of this with no one around. All other times that I saw this, there were a ton of people walking or waiting around it.

I love Otaru!
